What the Figma MCP server does

The Figma MCP server supplies AI agents with the design information required to produce code from Figma files. Its tools can return a React and Tailwind structured version of a Figma selection, pull out the variables and styles applied within it, and upload generated images so they are applied to the design. It links straight to Figma's hosted address at https://mcp.figma.com/mcp.

Tools it gives your assistant

3 tools or toolsets, as its documentation lists them.

  • get_design_context Returns structured React + Tailwind representation of a Figma selection
  • get_variable_defs Extracts variables and styles used in a selection
  • upload_assets Uploads generated images and applies them to the design
