What the AWS MCP server does

A collection of purpose-built MCP servers helps users get the most out of AWS wherever they use MCP. One local install example adds the aws-api server to Claude by running uvx awslabs.aws-api-mcp-server@latest, so the server runs on the user's own machine. Supported clients named in the directory include Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Claude Code, and Cline. Following the Cline and Amazon Bedrock instructions may incur costs under Amazon Bedrock Pricing, and the user is responsible for those costs.

How to install it

Run it locally

With uv (uvx)

uvx awslabs.aws-api-mcp-server@latest

What you need

In the awslabs documentation's own words:

  • “Following these instructions may incur costs and are subject to the Amazon Bedrock Pricing”

Commands and settings change between versions. Check the official instructions before you install.
