What the Heroku MCP server does

This server allows large language models to view, administer, and run Heroku Platform resources. It can be started on your own machine with the npx -y @heroku/mcp-server command or with heroku mcp:start. The local server authenticates with an API key. Supported clients include Claude Desktop, Zed, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, and VS Code. The local server requires the Heroku CLI installed globally, version 10.8.1 or later. It works with Common Runtime, Cedar Private and Shield Spaces, and Fir Private Spaces. The server is in early development, so its functionality and tools may change.

How to install it

Run it locally

With Node.js (npx)

npx -y @heroku/mcp-server

Command

heroku mcp:start
